Doctors Without Borders: Emergency Relief Fund
by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)The Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) gives Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) resources, flexibility, and independence to send medical and logistics teams anywhere in the world within 48 hours regardless of media attention. Each year, the ERF enables our teams to launch an immediate response to crises and reach hundreds of thousands of people caught in some of the world’s worst and most neglected emergencies.
Each emergency is unique and requires a tailored response. Our emergency plans outline the key steps needed to respond to the most probable emergencies—such as mass casualty events, population displacement, or flooding—and specify the emergency stocks and staffing needed. MSF logistics experts have developed hundreds of emergency kits adapted to various contexts. MSF purchases the contents, assembles, and stores these kits at warehouses in strategic locations, deploying over 10,000 kits every year. Supplies can be pre-ordered in large quantities, saving time and money.
During emergencies, the first 72 hours are the most critical. That’s why our expert teams are trained to get to a disaster site quickly with the equipment and supplies necessary to start saving lives.
Please support this project to help MSF respond rapidly to crises whether or not they hit the headlines.
