The Vermont Women's Fund created a database to count and identify the number of women-owned businesses in the state, a number that is currently unknown. (This is true for many other states in the U.S. as well.) This Way UP is a website w/a survey for women-owned businesses to fill out to be identified and counted in an interactive platform that aggregates data in real-time.
We know from recent research that women-owned businesses make $.19 to the $1 of a male-owned business - a figure based on income and rate of growth. This abysmal ratio is what we seek to change by identifying businesses and what women-owned businesses need to grow and succeed.
