Help reforestation efforts in Saxon Switzerland

GlobalGives has launched a giving opportunity to help with reforestation efforts to rebuild a unique conservation reserve in the wake of the recent wildfires. The campaign includes a $5,000 company donation and 100% matching for employee donations.

Saxon Switzerland belongs to the large "national park family" with 15 national parks in Germany and over 2200 national parks around the world. National Park and National Park Region Saxon Switzerland are supported by the political decision of the Saxon Parliament and the Saxon State Government. The National Park Authority in Bad Schandau is responsible for the administration of the protected area. Various advisory boards and working groups accompany the development of the national park and the national park region. There is a tradition of close and friendly cooperation with the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and the Elbe Sandstones Protected Landscape Area in the Czech Republic.

The Association of Friends of the Saxon Switzerland National Park was founded on April 12, 2002 in Pirna.

The purpose of the Association of Friends of the Saxon Switzerland National Park e.V. is 

• to support the National Park and the National Park Region Saxon Switzerland in the fulfillment of their tasks in the fields of nature conservation, information, education and public relations, recreation as well as research and documentation
• to promote the integration of the national park within the national park region and the district of Saxon Switzerland
• to support the development of a cross-border bilateral national park Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland as well as the cross-border cooperation with the Czech landscape conservation area Elbsandsteine
• to cooperate with other large protected areas, support associations and nature conservation associations and societies in Germany and abroad.

Die Sächsische Schweiz gehört zur großen „Nationalpark- Familie“ mit 15 Nationalparken in Deutschland und über 2200 Nationalparken in aller Welt. Verschiedene Beiräte und Arbeitsgruppen begleiten die Entwicklung des Nationalparks und der Nationalparkregion. Mit dem in der Tschechischen Republik angrenzenden Nationalpark Böhmische Schweiz und dem Landschaftsschutzgebiet Elbsandsteine besteht traditionell eine enge und freundschaftliche Zusammenarbeit. 

Der Verein der Freunde des Nationalparks Sächsische Schweiz e.V. wurde am 12. April 2002 in Pirna gegründet.

Der Verein der Freunde des Nationalparks Sächsische Schweiz e.V. bezweckt

• den Nationalpark und die Nationalparkregion Sächsische Schweiz bei der Erfüllung ihrer Aufgaben auf den Gebieten des Naturschutzes, der Informations-, Bildungs- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, der Erholung sowie der Forschung und Dokumentation zu unterstützen
• die Integration des Nationalparks innerhalb der Nationalparkregion sowie des Landkreises Sächsische Schweiz zu fördern
• die Entwicklung eines grenzüberschreitenden bilateralen Nationalparks Sächsisch- Böhmische Schweiz sowie die grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit mit dem tschechischen Landschaftsschutzgebiet Elbsandsteine zu unterstützen
• die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Großschutzgebieten, Fördervereinen sowie Naturschutzverbänden und -vereinen des In- und Auslandes.
• Wiederaufforstungsprojekte nach den verheerenden Waldbränden 2022
