op SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION INCThe Gofa Zone of Southern Ethiopia has been hit by heavy rainfall and devastating landslides. 14,000 people have been affected by this emergency, with over 200 reported fatalities. The number of those impacted is anticipated to rise as the disaster site is in a remote district, hindering access and rescue efforts.
In Ethiopia, Save the Children is:
- Deploying an assessment team to identify urgent needs of those affected
- Pre-positioning medical supplies, including dignity kits
- Facilitating psychosocial support, first aid training and field support initiatives
