Important update: GlobalGives now offering retroactive 200% match

Days after the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, the need for aid is greater than ever. More than 30,000 have been killed and tens of thousands injured, and survivors are facing the bitter cold of winter. To scale our relief efforts, GlobalGives will now be offering a 200% match for all employee donations and is working with our partner organization to retroactively increase the match for donations made earlier. Additionally, we will be extending the 200% match to the following organization: Aktion Deutschland hilft. We thank our employees for their inputs into these important campaign updates. 

GlobalGives has launched a giving opportunity to bring relief to the people of Turkey and Syria in the wake of devastating earthquakes. The campaign includes a $10,000 company donation (in addition to the stated employee donation and matching total) and 200% matching for employee donations.

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake has toppled thousands of structures in south-eastern Turkey (Türkiye), killing thousands of people. Hundreds more are trapped in collapsed buildings. The pre-dawn earthquake was followed by more than 100 powerful aftershocks, some of them at magnitude 6.0 or greater. This part of Turkey is already dealing with the consequences of a decade of conflict in neighboring Syria. The region is home to millions of refugees.

The rescue efforts are complicated by the freezing temperatures and damage to infrastructure. Organizations are on the ground, distributing food, clean water, shelter, blankets, and medical supplies, and providing essential healthcare services.
