Bosnia and Herzegovina Floods

efter CARE

On October 4, 2024, severe flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina affected around 50,000 people, with 20 dead and 40 missing. Several municipalities, including Jablanica and Konjic, experienced major infrastructure damage, including the collapse of roads and railways. Thousands were displaced, and access to food, water, and medical care was disrupted. The flooding also caused significant economic and environmental damage, particularly to agriculture and water supplies.

Rescue operations led by the Army and Civil Protection, supported by international teams, are ongoing. CARE is coordinating with local NGOs and aid organizations to address priority needs. CARE's emergency response includes multi-purpose cash assistance, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) packages, and psycho-social support.

Plans are underway to procure disinfectants, hygiene products, protective gear, and cleaning equipment. CARE is also supporting local NGOs to provide psycho-social services, with a focus on women and children.
