HISPANIC ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities was established in 1986 with a founding membership of 18 institutions. Because of HACU’s exemplary leadership on behalf of the nation’s youngest and fastest-growing population, the Association rapidly grew in numbers and national impact.

Today, HACU represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the United States, Latin America, Spain and school districts throughout the U.S. Although HACU members represent less than 11 percent of all higher education institutions nationwide, together, they are home to more than two-thirds of the 3.5 million Hispanic students and enroll 5.2 million college students altogether.

HACU is the only national educational association that represents existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Membership categories also include student organizations and faculty, staff, trustee, student and educational affiliates.
